Since the release of Lord of the Rings Fellowship of the Ring, many die hard LOTR fans have come to New Zealand to seek out the spectacular locations
Here we go



Amon Hen
(A hill located on the western bank of the river Anduin, one of three peaks at the Falls of Rauros.)
Closeburn, about 8km from Queenstown. The location took place in a Pine Forest on a peninsula located on the hore of Lake Wakatipu.





Edoras
(The capital city of Rohan)
Mountain Sunday was the location for Edoras and Meduseld.
There's no access to Mt Sunday, but Mt Potts offer accommodation and you can see Mt Sunday near the entrance.



Hobbiton
(A village in the Shire)
Matamata, Waikato. This area is one of the richest agricultural and pastoral areas in the world



Lothlorien and the Gladden Fields
(The fairest forest realm of the Elves remaining in Middle-earth during the Third Age and a marshland in the vale of the Gladden river)
Fernside, located on State Highway and also Lake Wakatipu.



Mordor
(The realm of Sauron, in the southeast of Middle-earth)
Mt Ruapehu, right on Whakapapa Ski Field



Misty Mountains
The mountains behind Glenorchy.



The Pillars of the Kings or The Argonath
(A monument comprising two enormous pillars)
Kawarau River



River Anduin or the Great River of Wilderland
(The longest river in the Third Age)
Four rivers were used to depict River Anduin. They are the Rangitikei River, the Moawhango River, the Hutt River and Lake Te Anau.






Rohan
(A kingdom of Men)
The surrounding area around Poolburn Reservoir in the Ida Valley. located 40 minutes from Alexandria.
